This is a 1970 Guild Starfire II in black. This guitar was obviously a special order as indicated on the label. In 1970 it was common for special order Guilds to have atypical parts in relation to their contemporaries. This one has original DeArmonds that were likely leftover from earlier Starfires. It also has Grover "Guild" tuners. It is missing it's pickguard, but I have a bracket, screws and foam that I will include. The finish is obviously original, as noted on the label. The bridge and the Guild Bigsby are originals from the 60's, but not original to this guitar. I had my local tech add them. I bought this guitar in March off of ebay. The previous seller was a total dirtbag and failed to mention several problems. It had a neck reset, although it was poorly done, the frets were completely worn out and the bridge was busted. Needless to say he refused to compensate me for the issues. I took the guitar to my tech to see what could be done, especially about the neck. The heel was actually separating from the body by a small fraction. My tech was able to wick some glue in the heel and secure it to the body. It is now stable. I then had him put new frets on. The new frets are pretty average size - not too small and not too tall. After that he set it up to make sure the Bigsby and bridge were alright. I got it back last week and have been very impressed with how much better it plays and sounds. He did a great job working on it. If you would like his contact info I'd be happy to give it to you and you can talk to him about it yourself. He has done a lot of difficult work for me in the past and he always returns an instrument in superb condition. This Starfire is no different. It is infinitely better than when I first got it. I bought it and a T-100 at the same time. My thinking was that I would get both and keep one, unless they both just blew me away. The T-100 has a little more of the sound I'm looking for with the Franz pickups, so this Starfire needs to go. Unfortunately because of the disaster with the previous seller I had to put a lot of money into it, but it's the only way I could know for sure if I wanted it over the T-100. Anyway, it's now a great guitar and will surely make someone happy. The finish has some wear on it and their is a little overspray on the heel from the previous neck reset. It's certainly not in mint condition, but these black Starfires are pretty rare - especially with DeArmonds. Everything sounds great and is in working order.
