Vintage 1977 Guild D-25m Acoustic Guitar Plays & Sounds Great W/ Case Nice

| Guild Guitar | July 3, 2015

Vintage 1977 Guild D-25M Acoustic Guitar.

Vintage original 1977 Guild® D-25 M acoustic dreadnought. Just set up by our tech, this one plays and sounds fantastic. Super warm and resonant. A wonderful vintage Guild® for a nice price.

Has a medium sized neck that feels great.  A very comfortable and quick player all the way up and down with a tight low action.

Has a wonderful tone.  Has a big, boomy low end that still stays tight overall.  Sounds great with a pick or finger style.  Rich and firm, this guitar is great for singer songwriters or just kicking around the house.

Excellent condition with few signs of normal cosmetic wear.  Overall this is a very clean example.

Guitar is exactly as pictured.

Comes in original soft shell case.

Benedetto Guild Johnny Smith Award Jazz Hollow Body

    | Guild Guitar | July 3, 2015

For sale is a Guild Johnny Smith Award Model in sunburst. Hand-crafted at the Corona Custom Shop by a team of luthiers led by Bob Benedetto. All original, build tag signed by Bob, with plush-lined alligator hard case in mint condition. This guitar looks, feels and plays like it is brand new. If you want a chance to own one of the finest Jazz guitars made, in showroom new condition…this is it. Thanks very much for viewing.
    Some Background:

Bob Benedetto’s association with Guild started in the Westerly. Rhode Island days and extended through the acquisition by Fender and into the establishment of the Custom Shop at Corona.     Some of the team of Guild Luthiers he trained at Westerly moved with the guitars and by 2004,  when this guitar was made,  the Benedetto Guilds were attracting rave reviews for design, quality, tone and finish.

What Bob actually did was to redesign the existing range of  X-500 Stuarts,  X-700 and Artist Awards from the inside out.    Outwardly looking like their Guild predecessors they were constructed using the principles Bob had refined over a lifetime career.    The resulting instruments were a massive step forward in terms of playability and performance.    Even so, the Guild name sat uneasily in the Fender camp and Fender failed to market these superb instruments successfully.     As a “last Gasp”  it was decided to re-launch the highly revered Johnny Smith model.    In order to differentiate it from the Artist Award,  Bob Benedetto was asked the make the guitar the way he felt it should have been.  This time he had free-reign and changed some of the key dimensions,  updated the construction and re-spec’d the electrics.    Magic.    At last,  a real modern Guild.

    About this guitar.

Each guitar bearing the Benedetto name was personally supervised and inspected by Bob Benedetto and only when he was entirely happy with a guitar would he put his name to it.    This fabulous instrument bears his signature on the label and on the Certificate of Authenticity which comes with the guitar.

The Johnny Smith Award is a truly great guitar!    Stunning to look at,  inspiring to play,  it is full voiced with ringing harmonics and capable of delivering whatever a guitarist calls for,  just like my Benedetto Fratello except that the Fratello has a creamy voice whereas the JS has a wider palette of tonal shades.    It feels right and it sounds superb!   This is a great acoustic archtop and is superb played un-plugged.    The Benedetto S6 floating pickup is legendary for the quality of its tone and response and raises this amazing guitar to equal the very best!!

This guitar has only been played lightly, with no visible sign of playing and zero wear and I am happy to describe it as Mint.     Certainly it is in 100% excellent condition.    It is like new in every respect.

    Guild Capri Ce100 Newark St.

    | Guild Guitar | July 3, 2015

Excellent condition on the this Guild Capri, with no issues, either cosmetically or functionally.  I’ve owned it for about 2 years, and have taken very good care of it.  I have replaced the bigsby with an NOS Guild harp tailpiece, as I use this for jazz, but I have the bigsby and WILL include it in the sale.  I can also reinstall the bigsby if the new owner desires.  There are a couple of additional small holes that were needed for the harp tailpiece, but they are invisible with the tailpiece installed.
I have owned nearly a dozen vintage guild archtopp, and find these reissues to be excellent reproductions of the originals, in terms of look, sound, and playability.  The neck carve on this (medium thick) is nearly identical to a ’61 CE100 I owned.  The mini-humbuckers also sound virtually identical to the originals.  Overall a fantastic guitar for the price.  I am only selling to finance a telecaster that I need for a new project.
Please contact me with any questions you may have.
The original hardshell case (Guild branded) is included.

So what’s the story on our instruments?

Our guitars are not pre-owned.  They have never been sold to a consumer.

We hand select all guitars that we offer for sale from the refurbisher’s inventory of over 3000 guitars. We also test each guitar to ensure that all of the components work properly. As we offer each guitar for sale, we include information on any visible repairs and provide photos.

The refurbisher that we work with purchases guitars directly from the manufacturer.  These guitars did not pass the manufacturers quality control or they were returned to the manufacturer from music stores unsold for one reason or other. Generally these guitars have minor finish imperfections, minor damage that occurred during manufacture, or minor issues with electronics or hardware. Music store returns may sometimes have been used as demos and may have light pick scratches or may have been overstocks of discontinued models.

The refurbisher uses a six step inspection process as part of their restoration process to ensure all issues are identified and corrected.  We then inspect and test the electronics on all of our inventory before offering them for sale. Through this process we know that the guitars we offer have been MORE thoroughly inspected than their “new” counterparts. Our reputation is on the line with every guitar we sell and want to be sure that we offer only the best guitars.

So, what is the deal with the “used” stamp if these guitars are not “pre-owned”?

During the restoration process the guitar is stamped “used” in small letters on the back of the headstock.  At the same time, the original serial number was removed and replaced with a serial number assigned by the refurbisher.  This is done to prevent warranty claims as these guitars are offered without warranty.

How do we get it to you in one piece?

We will carefully pack the instrument.  We prep the guitar for shipment by loosening the strings to reduce stress on the neck during shipping. The guitar will first be packed into a guitar box.  It is then packed into a shipping box with additional padding for greater protection.  We also have the shipment insured.

    Guild F30 Nt

    | Guild Guitar | July 3, 2015

This Guild F 30 NT Serial number A1-1838  is in excellent condition, with NO CRACKS  sounds just like a 48 year old guitar should, excellent volume with very warm and woody tone. With the bass string at the 12th fret 2.75mm above the fret  and the treble 2.5 it is very comfortable to play. There are a some very small dings which keeps it from being in mint condition. It looks like the bridge was removed and re glued but the work was professionally done. Also the headstock plastic veneer has shrunk ( it is still glued down tight) and there is a white binding look to the headstock, it must have been the plastic they used back then as I know some Gibson’s had issue’s will shrinking plastic binding as did Gretch. It comes with it’s original soft shell faux fur lined case.
