Ash back and sides with a solid Spruce top, gloss finish, all original. This guitar has seen some use over the years and had some surface crazing to the FINISH ONLY and does NOT affect the playability or tone whatsoever. This guitar is solid! There is some minor wear to the butt of the neck (where the neck meets the body) on the underneath side. You can see in one of the photos. This is from my personal collection. A very well balanced guitar that rings like a bell! You'll be impressed with Ash as a tone wood. You would never guess that Ash could sound so good. It still has plenty of bass, and the mids and trebles are even throughout the range. Comes with non-original plush lined hard shell case (tan). She also has a pickup with an end pin, the kind of pickup that looks like a small microphone on the inside top of the soundhole wired back to the endpin. Unfortunately a wrist injury has kept me from playing guitar. I will be listing other USA Westerly made guitars so keep a look out and HAPPY BIDDING!!
More info:
A rather unusual piece, the D-46 was manufactured briefly by Guild in the early eighties. This dreadnaught dates back to 1981 or 1982 and has a solid spruce top with ash back and sides. The book matched back is showcasing the signature grain of ash. The addition of an unbound ebony fingerboard and bridge, multiple bindings, premium headstock, and a mahogany center strip on the back of the neck, give this model the dressing normally associated with Guild's top of line dreadnaughts. Also notable are the tuning machines labeled "Guild", which you do not see anymore. The ebony contrasts nicely with the blond ash body and pumpkin colored spruce top. Overall, an understated, yet elegant package. This instrument is as powerful as it is well balanced. It features scalloped bracing and dovetail neck joint. A splendid instrument.
