The Guild Stuart X 700 is comparable to the Gibson L-5 ces and the body size is almost the same as the Gibson Super 400.. but the cost is less than half of most used Gibson L-5's I've seen... so here's a great deal and a great guitar.
This is a beautiful Guild X 700 stuart Archtop Ele, Made in Westerly, RI, USA, I think its a 1999 or 2000 that predates Fender, the best I can tell from the serial number. Has all gold plated parts, upgraded with a Gold Bigsby, Gibson L5 style bound pickguard and pickguard bracket, and upgraded with Grover Imperial tuners. The orginal Guild Pickguard w/bracket and the orginal Guild harp Tailpiece and orginal tuner buttons are included. The guitar has a full "Venetian" cutaway body 17 3/4'' Flame maple 3 1/2 " deep and the same graduated solid AAA spruce top as the Guild Artist award, Fast action 5 pc flame maple neck with ebony fingerboard with two-tone abalone and mother-of-pearl inlaid position markers. This guitar is in Great condition I say a 9.5 out of 10 the only issue is the binding around the fingerboard has 1 crack about the middle of the neck on the bass side and 2 on the treble side. these were glued and filled, than can be seen but not felt. I was told this was common with these guitars. The finish has very light to normal wear.. if anything very minor.. Comes with the orginal Guild Hard Shell case.
Notice... some of these pictures have reflections from lights and windows.. these are not marks or scratches on the guitar. The amp or amps in these pictures are not for sale, this sale is for the Guild X 700 guitar with case only and the extra Guild parts as mentioned above.
The list price on this guitar in the late 1990's was around $7000 and in 2001 The New Guild Benedetto Stuart X700 model was $9000, 2005 they were $10,000.. and those new ones are smaller bodied guitars than these older ones.
I was also told this guitar might be of the last 50 made before the newer Benedetto Stuart X700 Model came out..
Here is a Photobucket link http://s424.photobucket.com/albums/pp330/jhazelwoodjr/Guild%20X700%20blond/ it has 67 pictures of this guitar with the org. hardware and the upgraded hardware. It also shows the binding cracks described above..
